I m using an original n64 controller which the analog stick has already been worn in over the years so it is looser than normal but it s still too stiff for me. Also folks if you shell out the cash for a new oem controller dont forget to lube the thumbstick with ceramic grease. The most important thing is that the analog stick works well.

Imho also in auto parts store theres valvoline crimson cerulean and penzoil red something. It comes in a very small tube so it s not a great value but i have had it in my main n64 joystick for at least a year and played through a bunch of long games on it dk64 goldeneye diddy kong racing etc and it still feels very smooth. If you own a grease gun getting a cartridge of the ones i named is a good idea for grease fittings on cars i use that stuff on forklifts and other industrial equipment.
